The history of Nazaryan Institute began in 1988 when it was originally established as "Nazaryan school of business". The name was later changed to the "Nazaryan institute" we know today in 1997, when multiple new faculties were added to the university.

The building is historic, built in 1909. In 1911-1924, an Armenian seminary functioned in this place. The building has been under renovation for several years and the historic monument has been preserved as much as possible. All parts of the former seminary that could be restored were restored.
Nazaryan Institute has been implementing educational programs in Gyumri in the field of Tourism, Law and Economics since 2010. Construction of a new Nazaryan Institute campus in Gyumri has already started. The building will be equipped with modern infrastructure, a library, laboratories, sports fields and a swimming pool. A student dormitory will also be built. Nazaryan Institute campus in Gyumri will offer undergraduate and graduate programs. Two new majors will be added to the Gyumri campus - Nazaryan Maritime School and Culinary Academy. There will be a training center at the university as well.
